About the competition
In the league phase each club plays 8 matches against different opponents. The top eight go straight to the round of 16, while teams finishing 9th to 24th play a knockout play-off round.
The new format brings more big-club clashes early on, but also more games where the result matters less to one side. Keep that in mind in the final rounds of the league phase.
